MAKEUP ROOM SECRETS #1/3
Hannah Cooper at Next – aka “Coops”

by Hair and Makeup Artist LOU BOX

A slightly retro look on gorgeous Hannah. Always a pleasure putting lippy on that fabulous mouth!

I’m a firm believer in exposing good skin so I very rarely use foundation; just concealer on top of freshly moisturised skin (the skin care I used at work is Bioderma Crealine H2O, Aveda Botanical Kinetics Toning Mist and my trusty Dr Hauschka Rose day cream).

We kept the base quite dewy and modern. I used my trusty MAC Select Cover-up concealers just where Hannah needed – a little around the nose and under the eyes. I set this with Laura Mercier Secret Brightener under the eyes and a little MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural on the rest of the face.

The cheeks were contoured with Laura Mercier’s Cream Contour in Contrast, I highlighted the tops of the cheekbones, brow bone, nose and cupid’s bow using a mix of MAC Strobe Cream and Cream Colour Base in Hush. Finally we used Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink to add a dewy flush along the cheekbones.

I then further highlighted the brow bone, cupid’s bow and tear-duct area using MAC Pigment in Vanilla. I groomed Hannah’s brows and used MAC brow pencil in Fling to shape.

I’m very unhelpful when describing eyeshadow colours as I tend to custom- mix several colours together depending on the individual girl… But this look called for a very neutral definition on the eye and I’ve done Hannah’s makeup enough that I can safely guess that this was mostly a mix of Bobbi Brown’s Grey, Heather and MAC’s Paradisco

I then curled the lashes using Shu Uemura curlers; lined the eyes using Illamasqua’s Precision Gel Liner and loaded on Illamasqua’s Masquara.

Finally on the lips I used a little balm then lined and filled the lips using Cherry lip liner by MAC, finishing up with Armani’s gorgeous Lip Maestro in Chinese Lacquer – an incredible velvet/nearly matte finish lip ‘gloss’.

I prepped Hannah’s hair with Kerastase Ciment Thermique and used my Diva Hot Wand to wave the hair. I kept the waves all in the same direction and let them cool before releasing each curl so that the wave was tighter, more defined and more retro! Once all the hair was cool I brushed it through with a bristle brush to combine the curls a little – we still wanted some definition in the waves at the bottom rather than one solid section of hair. Then I just sprayed this with a little Bumble and Bumble Classic Hairspray! Sorted.
