Clear blue skies & clear blue seas

This summer, despite a lot of ‘Judith Charmers’ comments from my lovely (not-envious-at-all) fashion pals, I headed off to the Greek Islands to explore a new part of Greece for me, Kefalonia. 

After the usual ‘my case weighs a ton’ panic and a swift make up purchase at Duty free, the boyfriend and I headed off on our annual holiday together. Sat on the plane, balm, book and IPod in hand I wondered what we would make of this island. Having visited the beautiful island of Skiathos, Santorini, Mykonos and Crete in the past few years Kefalonia had a lot to live up to, but as we checked into our hotel and looked out on the white sandy Lassi beach we knew this island was going to be just as charming as the others.

The plan was; do nothing. However after a couple of days of this we got itchy feet so decided to explore…and boy did we do it in style (yes that lime green toy car was really ours!). If you ever get the chance to go to Kefalonia I would say the breathtaking Cave of Drogarati and the mystical underground lake Melissani are both must-see, along with the world famous Myrtos Beach. It is a white pebble, crystal clear waters, hugged by cliffs paradise! No wonder it was a key location for the film ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’. 

Our favourite spot on the island was the cosmopolitan fishing village of Fiscardo.  Set on the waters edge, with cocktail bars, ice cream cafes and seafood restaurants, not to mention a handful of super-cute boutiques, this pastel washed village was the ultimate place to relax after a day of tanning on the Costa Costa beach. Perfection.

However before we knew it I had purchased the mandatory holiday scarf, (bright yellow with tiny white stars on if you’re interested) we had after-sunned ourselves to the max and we were headed home….
